Abstract
This research seeks to investigate how the scientific article genre has shifted from the hegemonic pattern of academic writing. Inserted in the project “Decoloniality and insurgencies in academic discursive practices: new modes of production, registration and mediation of academic writing”, this research aims to analyze and understand the rhetorical-stylistic organization of the text Uma missiva a seu Ditinho, craque do São Geraldo, a letter-article published in the magazine of the Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores/ as Negros/ as (ABPN). In addition, it seeks to discuss
the insurgency movements in academic writing present in the letter-article. Therefore, Critical Gender Analysis (ACG) and Sociorethoric Gender Analysis (ASG) are used as theoretical-methodological assumptions as an analytical tool for the rhetorical units (compositional and stylistic) of the scientific article genre. In addition to the identification of the rhetorical units of the letter-article, there is also the recognition of the discursive community and the communicative purposes (SWALES, 1990) that permeate this text. The study shows that the letter-article reflects the concerns (political agendas) that govern the community in which it was produced, published
and disseminated. This shows the political role that ABPN and other alternative communities play in paying attention to the suffering of subordinated subjects, who try to enter and survive in a Eurocentric academic community, especially with regard to academic writing.
