Abstract
The dissertation in question has as a spatial cut the municipality of Buriti de Goiás / GO,
which belongs to the Mesoregion of Centro Goiano, to the Microregion of Anicuns, which
is 151 km from Goiânia (capital of the State) and which is bordered both by the GO-326
highway as well as the western slope of the Serra Dourada. This is an approach from
the field of Geodiversity dealing with Geological Heritage with a focus on
Geoconservation and Geomining Heritage. Although these are new terms, from 1990
onwards, in the scientific community, whether in Eurasia or in America, they are
important studies for changing understanding and attitude towards the elements of
Geodiversity on the planet. The field work, the notes made in a notebook, the
photographic records and the theoretical contribution made based on academic
references, both made during the years 2021 and 2022 that contributed to the reading
of the landscapes, that is, of Lajedo of Santo Antônio River, Pedra Goiana Filha and
quartzite pits (active and deactivated) in Buriti de Goiás. It should be noted that these
geopoints and/or geosites are in the Serra Dourada domain, that is, an important area in
the history of mining in the State of Goiás and that they have also spread to other areas
since the action of the bandeirantes in the interior of Goiás. The geoconservation of
existing abiotic resources in the municipality of Buriti de Goiás is necessary as a priority
for future public or private actions towards the implementation of geotourism in the
municipality. There is a lack of government in tourism practices or other corresponding
modalities in the State of Goiás, even so, the community does not stop attending and
enjoying these abiotic and biotic landscapes, including Balneário do Paredão.
Geoeducational and geoconservation practices are urgent and it is suggested to the
municipality studied that the active (for now) and deactivated quartzite mining pits be
transformed into geological parks, for example, Quartzite Geological Park. That active
pits mitigate environmental impacts and respect current environmental legislation, in
addition to the implementation of equipment that transforms waste into sand for use in
construction, avoiding silting up of river channels and dusting of houses and vegetation.
