Abstract

The purpose of this research is to work on the possibilities of heritage education, focusing on the African heritage in Little Africa in Rio de Janeiro, using the decolonial perspective and using the teachers of the Fundação Darcy Vargas School (FDV) as a participatory audience. The choice of black heritage as an object of study took place as a way of subverting a cycle of erasure and invisibility of heritage of Afro-Brazilian origin. The main objective of this study is to understand to what extent the FDV School contributes to the preservation of local heritage, developing the critical spirit and citizen education of students in the Little Africa region. Darcy Vargas, bibliographic analysis on memory, heritage and heritage education, as well as workshop and questionnaires. Through the results it was possible to get to know Little Africa better and understand the challenges faced by the chosen school in the implementation of activities aimed at the perception and experience of black heritage. The final product consists of a comic book aimed at elementary and high school students, as well as a small user manual for teachers to implement the material in the classroom.
